Today, 16th September 2022 marks the fourth ‘i-Recognise Day‘ designed to celebrate the massive impact cleaning staff make on the lives of everyone around the World.
The purpose of this celebratory day is to:
Raise the profile of the cleaning sector, acknowledging cleaning operatives across the globe who deliver an invaluable and essential service for us all.
It’s a chance to reflect on the contribution, dedication and hard work cleaners give every day. Cleaners currently make up almost 5% of the UK population, yet they are under represented. These dedicated individuals work long unsociable hours, with more responsibilities now than ever before. We ultimately all rely on cleaning operatives to keep buildings and workspaces clean, safe and comfortable 24/7.
The day’s catchy name is a reminder to us all to personally ‘Recognise’ the valuable work they carry out.
Recognise stands for:
Respect Every Cleaning Operative Giving Necessary Importance to Services and Environments.
While COVID has gone some way in raising the profile of this often silent workforce, there is much more we can do to recognise their impact on people’s lives.
Endorsed by The British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) i-Recognise day also neatly coincides with World Clean Up Day (tomorrow, 17th September) which encourages people in 158 countries to all do their bit to help improve the local environment.
You can help promote this special day for cleaners by posting on social using the hashtag #iRecognise.
